RJ: best rookie should not win the fastest progress award unless from non-All-Star to MVP candidate

Live Bar, October 23 news recently, Richard Jefferson, a former NBA player and current commentator, talked about the fastest progressive player award in the “Road Trippin'” program.

Jefferson said: “I have doubts about this award. Don’t let the rookie of the year win this award. It is normal for him to enter all stars. It is normal for his talent to make such progress. If you change from a non-All-Star player to an MVP candidate, it is not a small improvement. Morant is an example. However, if you are in the top three, you are expected to make such progress. If you have never played for 12 points, that is a big progress.”

Morant won the best best new arrival of the 2019-20 season, and then was selected for the All-Star game for the first time in the 2021-22 season and won the fastest progressive player award.
