A player in the Greek league attacked the referee after the game and was admitted to hospital. He has been sued and expelled from the team.

Live broadcast bar, October 27, according to BasketNews, there was nothing special about the match between Porphyra and Ilioupoli in the Greek league. The visiting team won the match with 69-60, and everything seemed normal. However, when the two referees were ready to go home after the game, a player of the home team attacked the referee Aleksandros Garandziotis.

The referee recalled the situation at that time: “After leaving the court with another referee, we went to the place where we parked. I saw a player waiting for us in his own car. He came out of the car and cursed us as soon as he saw us. He took two steps towards me. My colleague tried to stop him, but he bypassed and began to hit me in the face.”

“I escaped for a while, but he came after me angrily and continued to hit me in the face. Then I fell down and my colleague pushed him away, but he came back and started kicking my head.”

“I have never paid special attention to this player before. During the game, he once threatened me in a low voice, but I didn’t want to spoil the atmosphere of the game, nor did I blow his technical foul.”

“Between the time he beat me, my colleague asked him if he knew what he was doing? He said he would definitely have a lawsuit. Then he got into the car and drove away.”

After the referee was sent to the hospital, another referee went to the police station to file a lawsuit against the player. The player was then expelled from the team.
