Live Bar, October 22 News recently, Herbert Jones, the second grade rookie of Pelican team, was interviewed Hoopshype. The following is the interview details.
Reporter: Did you learn the defensive style of those people during your growth?
Jones: I watched a lot of matches between Tony Allen and Leonard. I think the way I defend and look at the game comes from observing the positions of security guards in NFL, such as Ed-Reid and Cam-Chessler. I just want to find out how they read the defense on the other side of the court. I think if I can learn something from them, I will be more able to cope with it in the basketball court.
Reporter: Who is the most difficult player you have ever defended?
Jones: every night, I will meet several wild players. If I have to reduce it to a few, I think Luca is very difficult to defend, so is durant. I will also choose Trey Yang.
Reporter: is the best defensive squad and the best defensive player your goal?
Jones: Of course it’s good to be selected, but this has never been my goal. I just want to play, do whatever my teammates ask me to do, become the hardest player on the field, and do all the dirty work. I am really proud of the things they said that did not appear in scoreboard. I want to influence the competition with what is not shown on the scoreboard.
Reporter: What does it mean to you if you are selected for the best defensive team?
Jones: I will like it very much. I am proud of my own defense. It would be great if the alliance could notice. If not, it will not affect the way I play. I will do better in those aspects in the same way next season.
Reporter: What goals do you want to achieve before the end of your career?
Jones: before the end of my career, one of my goals is to stay in NBA for at least ten years. If you ask any of my teammates who are their best teammates, I hope their answer is me.
In the 2021-22 season, Herbert Jones played 79 games in total, scoring 9.5 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.7 steals 0.8 cap, and was selected as the second best rookie.
